Cycle routes to suit all levels and abilities – from challenging trails to gentle family rides – can be found within a stone’s throw of Ross-on-Wye.

Cycle trails

There are many routes to choose from in and around Ross-on-Wye – including Chase Woods and Penyard Hill or loops starting in Ross and taking in the picturesque King’s Caple, Hoarwithy and Hole in the Wall or Symonds Yat, the Forest of Dean and Tintern Abbey. Check out Komoot for their top 20 routes or contact Ross-on-Wye & District Cycling Club who can provide details of conventional cycling events and off-road routes suited to your own personal ability.

Bike hire

One of the longest established local hire companies is Pedalabikeway at the Forest of Dean Cycle Centre, around 20 minutes’ drive from Ross-on-Wye. They offer a range of bikes to suit all abilities, both to purchase or to pre-book for leisure hire only.

Wye Bikes, located in Coleford, also around 20 minutes’ drive from Ross-on-Wye, can offer both electric bike hire as well as standard mountain bike hire.
