Visitors to Ross-on-Wye will discover a rich programme of entertainment and events in the town, many centred on the riverside. From fairs and carnivals, a country music extravaganza and from the Hedgehog Festival to the River Festival, fairs and fire-walking spectaculars, as well as national dog events.

5th: Proms in the park: Ross-on-Wye is renowned for its ‘bands in the park’ Sunday concerts at the bandstand on Wye Street. On the 5th a longer concert takes place featuring The Chepstow Community Big Band, The Chepstow Community Gospel Choir and The Ebbw Vale Brass Band.

21st: Rick Stein book signing. The renowned chef and television personality will be signing his latest book at Rossiter’s bookshop on the High Street at 12.30pm.

24th-26th: Walking Festival  Following the easing of lockdown, this year’s Walking Festival  ( is going ahead. This is a long established event in the walking calendar with guided walks in great demand, more so after the restrictions of the past year. The event is organised by the local branch of Walkers Are Welcome.

25th: Equinox Festival  is a free one-day community wellbeing and world music event at the bandstand at Wye Street, Ross-on-Wye and is allied to the Walking Festival. Street food, fitness classes including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, yoga, pilates, percussion workshops plus DJ Banco de Gaia playing world music are highlights. 9th: St Mary’s Church, Ross-on-Wye will be hosting the Gwent Chamber Orchestra on Saturday 9 October at 7.30pm with the incredible Sarah Newbold on flute. An excellent programme is promised with some wonderful pieces from William Boyce, Handel, Mozart, Frank Martin and Debussy plus there will be a bar, raffle and silent auction.
