The Market House – Tourist Information Site

This is the first piece in a series to introduce you to the Tourist Information Sites in Ross. We begin at The Market House.

Made in Ross is proud to run the Ross Tourist Information Site in the Market House in the Centre of Ross-on-Wye “Made in Ross” is a collective of artists and craft workers based in the historic Market House in the centre of Ross-on-Wye. In 2015 the ownership of this wonderful 17th Century building was transferred from Herefordshire County Council to the newly formed Ross Parish Council who entered into a contract with The Courtyard in Hereford to run this venue in support of the arts. “Made in Ross” is delighted to be working with The Courtyard and Ross-on-Wye Town Council in this iconic building in the very heart of Ross, which provides a fascinating venue for contemporary arts and crafts. Made in Ross is open Daily 10-4. Contact 01989 769398 www.madeinross.co.uk There are currently 14 members of the “Made in Ross” collective who showcases a wide variety of work in the gallery including acrylics, batik silks, blacksmithing, candles, ceramics, Chinese brush painting, felting, glass, mosaics, sculptures made from recycled materials, silver jewellery, textiles, watercolours, wood carving and much more besides, all at affordable prices. “Made in Ross” regularly promotes guest artists. The current exhibition is entitled “Lines around Ross” and features the paintings of well known artist, Jerry Whitehouse. Jerry’s images of the steam engines and stations along the Wye valley are accompanied by a video which draws on the local characters’ anecdotes from the steam powered era. “Made in Ross” are interested in recruiting new members.
