Symonds Yat is one of the most iconic and beautiful locations in the Dean Wye. There are three distinct parts: Yat Rock, a viewpoint with incredible views over the River Wye; and the villages of Symonds Yat East and Symonds Yat West on either side of the river.

Symonds Yat West is on the Herefordshire side of the river and Symonds Yat East is on the Gloucestershire side. The only connection between the two banks are two ancient hand (“pull”) ferries by which the ferryman pulls people across the river using an overhead rope, for a small fee. The only connection by road is a five mile trip upstream over Huntsham bridge.

There are many attractions and things to do in both villages including:

The Amazing Hedge Puzzle. Play hide and seek or tag in the maze, experience the Butterfly Zoo where the most beautiful and delicate creatures fly around you then play the 12 hole miniature golf course set amongst fantasy Roman ruins. Visit website.
